Welcome to the Birmingham Association of School Business Management Website.

The Birmingham Association of School Business Management was formed in 1999, as the Birmingham Bursars' Group, to represent the views of Bursars, Business Managers and other Support Staff in schools within the Birmingham area. The name was changed towards the end of 2015 to reflect national trends and the evolving and widespread roles undertaken by the ever growing membership.

We currently have over 300 members consisting of Bursars, Business Managers, Finance Officers, MAT central teams and Senior Support Staff all employed in school business management roles in educational establishments within Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Our website provides a very effective platform for our members to extend their support for each other between meetings and access termly free webinars. Members enjoy access to discussion forums where they can seek advice, share information and access important bulletins, a calendar of events, useful documents, training videos, Jobs in Schools posts, ESFA guidance and DfE benchmarking. They also have access to SBM Toolkit, FundEd and ISBL membership for free to support their role.

The group has close links with other educational groups and bodies including the Education Funding Agency (EFA), Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL), Birmingham Education Partnership (BEP) and other regional groups. New members will be welcomed by the committee and supported by fellow members.

In addition all members can use the http://www.jobsinschools.org website to advertise teaching or support staff vacancies free of charge.

Aims

Our Vision

To represent the views of Bursars, Business Managers and other Support and Operational Staff in schools and Trusts within the Birmingham area.

To meet on a regular (at least once a term) basis and to invite outside Speakers to talk to the group on current issues.

To enable regular networking opportunities between members.

To seek to raise the profile of Bursars, Business Managers and other Support and Operational Staff in schools and Trusts in our area.

To provide regular updates and consultation opportunities on both local and national issues, feeding back to key bodies such as the Department of Education and Institute of School Business Leadership.

To seek representation as appropriate on Local Authority Forums, Focus Groups and Working Parties.

To seek to provide a platform for New Members to join the group at any time.

To raise awareness of Professional Training and Development opportunities available to members in order to enhance their personal development and that of the leadership and management of their school.

To provide professional support to all members to enable them to both enhance and improve the effectiveness of their schools.
